Konzept

Wir freuen uns, dass wir als Kurator Christoph Doswald (Leiter Kiör, Kunst im öffentlichen Raum Stadt Zürich) gewinnen konnten, die 6. Biennale 2019 zu präsentieren.
Es sind 24 Künstlerinnen und Künstler eingeladen, welche in Vorbereitung ihrer Projekte zum Thema "Paradiese, lost" sind.

Der Garten als "hortus conclusus" bildete das Zentrum der bisherigen Skulpturen-Biennalen im Weiertal. Für die im Sommer 2019 stattfindende 6. Ausgabe hat der Kurator Christoph Doswald die eingeladenen Künstlerinnen gebeten, auch das Terrain jenseits dieses kultivierten Gartens zu erkunden. Durch die Veränderung des über die Jahre bekannten Kontexts, durch die Grenzüberschreitungen ins "terrain vague" sind Werke entstanden, die sich dezidiert ausserhalb des bekannten Rahmens bewegen.

Im übertragenen Sinn geht es bei dieser Ausstellung um gesellschaftliche Themen von aktueller Relevanz, u.a. um Sicherheitsverlust, um Abschottung, um die Angst vor dem Neuen und um die Sehnsucht nach dem Altbekannten, Bewährten. Künstlerisches Entdecken und Exerimentieren liefert in diesem sehr gegenwärtigen Spannungsfeld frische Diskussionsansätze und fordert die Lust auf Neues.

"Paradise, lost" handelt vom neuen Bezug zur Wirklichkeit, die sich jenseits des Gartenzauns findet.

We are pleased to announce that we were able to win Christoph Doswald ( Leader of Art in public spaces,  city of Zurich) as the curator to present the 6th Biennale 2019.
24 artists are invited who are  in preparation of their projects in the context of “Paradise, Lost”

PARADISE LOST
6th SCULPTURE-BIENNALE

The garden as  “hortus conclusus” constituted the center of past sculpture-biennales in the Weiertal. For the 6th edition, which takes  place in the summer of 2019, curator Christoph Doswald has bid the invited artists to explore the terrain beyond this cultivated garden aswell.  Due to this change to the established context, and due to the transgression into “terrain vague”, works have resulted that are decidedly outside of the familiar frame.

In a figurative sense,  this exhibition is about social issues of current relevance, such as loss of security, alienation, fear of the unknown, a desire for what is familiar and established, among other things. Artistic discovery and experiment delivers fresh approaches to the discourse in this very present and tense situation and it demands the wish for something new.
